Help Liz Catch Up On Bills

Donation protected
My name is Elizabeth Campbell. I write books under my maiden name Elizabeth Barone, but most people call me Liz. In 2007 I began experiencing debilitating joint pain, fatigue, and other symptoms. After lots of testing, my doctors determined that it was some kind of autoimmune disease—meaning my body is attacking itself—but they couldn't figure out what or why. As of 2016, my rheumatologist has determined that it may be Lupus caused by the mono I had as a teenager, and is monitoring me closely.

For the most part, I've tried to carry on living my life. Unfortunately, I'm unable to work a "normal" job. I went from working a full-time dream job as a web designer to part-time in retail, but over the years I've been less and less able to meet the demands of the workforce. After a particularly bad flareup in 2014, my husband and I decided that I would work from home and pursue writing full-time. Even though my husband Mike works full-time, it isn't enough. His hours are often cut and, although he's been looking, he hasn't been able to find a better-paying job. We are falling more and more behind on bills. Just as we thought it couldn't get worse, this month our rent went up.

Since we only have one vehicle and are not on or close to a bus route, I couldn't return to work even if I was physically able. We are frustrated and very worried about our situation.

I've always been a go-getter, so I sat down and came up with some author services that I could offer. I've been self-publishing for five years—one of which was spent with a small press—so I have a lot of experience in the indie publishing industry, and have a lot to offer other authors. Recently a friend, @thebookavid, DMed me on Twitter and suggested I set up a GoFundMe with these services.

I'm also offering fun rewards for non-authors, such as signed paperbacks, ebook copies of my entire library, and more! Both @MissMolliWrites and @jcahannigan have graciously donated ebook copies of their books as rewards, too.

My goal is to raise enough with these services to cover our rent and utilities, that way with Mike's regular income we can start to pull ahead. The sooner I can start raising money, the better, as we have several bills due by the end of the month and our increased rent due at the beginning of November.

Any additional funds raised will be put toward future bills.

Words cannot express how much your help means to us. We are a young couple and love our life together, but have fallen on hard times. A hand up will not only help us continue living in the cute little country apartment that we love so much, but will also lift our spirits and help us focus on more fun things (like writing gritty romance and painting zombies).

Catching up on bills will also relieve stress, which will help me recover faster from my current flareup. Your help will literally get me back on my feet, as I've been laid up on the couch and hobbling around our apartment with my cane.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much.

XOXO,
Elizabeth Barone
