Elizabeth's Half Marathon for Jack's Foundation
Donation protected
I will be running the Faxon Law Fairfield Half Marathon in Fairfield, Connecticut to raise money for the Jack Langerman Community Foundation in memory and honor of my boyfriend, Jack.
Jack died in a tragic and freak accident on January 17th. I will miss him everyday for the rest of my life but I feel compelled to keep Jack’s legacy of love and kindness alive by sharing with the world just how special he was. Jack was friendly beyond measure, caring, honest, optimistic, and his favorite word to describe himself: gregarious. He had this superhero ability to bring people together, whether they knew each other or wanted to be connected or not. Anyone lucky enough to be in Jack's orbit probably has a friend or in my case, dozens, because of Jack. He made every person he interacted with feel like they were the most important human; you left every interaction with Jack feeling fully known and loved.
I could brag about him forever; he truly lived life the way it should be lived and squeezed everything he could out of the short 24 years he had. I don’t know how I got so lucky to be the love of his life. While I am devastated we will never live the full life together we had planned, I will forever be honored to have been known and loved by him.

The Jack Langerman Community Foundation was created in Jack’s memory to give back to the communities that gave so much to Jack. The foundation will work to enhance access to youth sports and education among many other initiatives. Initiatives may include but are not limited to scholarships, youth sports activations, or camps in communities such as Bethesda, Maryland; Middlebury, Vermont; Salisbury, Connecticut; and Boston, Massachusetts. If you feel so inclined, any donation big or small will do wonders to help the foundation give back and keep Jack’s incredible legacy alive. Learn more about the foundation here: https://www.jacklangermanfoundation.org/. And if you’d rather celebrate Jack in a non-financial fashion: tell your loved ones you love them, do something that makes you happy today, or maybe even raise a beer and toast to Jack and me. As he wrote in a paper in college when describing his approach to life “make the most out of everyday regardless of the circumstances.”

The half marathon is on June 27th, 2021 (two years to the day that Jack and I met!). Until then, you can follow along on my training journey (with many not so cute post run selfies included) on the app Strava by searching my name. I am incredibly grateful for my community, and Jack’s, that have lifted me up (and oftentimes dragged me) through these last few months. Forever thankful to be surrounded by the greatest people this world has to offer.
Yours in gratitude,
Elizabeth

All donations will be given to the Jack Langerman Community Foundation via check after the half marathon.
The Jack Langerman Community Foundation is a Maryland non-profit corporation in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) status. If approved, donations to the Foundation will be retroactively tax-deductible. If not approved, such donations would not be tax deductible.
