Ella & Sophia

Hi, my name is Kristy and my twin daughters have had a rough go since the day they were born. 

For the month of October, after 1 single day of daycare the twins have contracted many back to back viruses causing lost work time.

Currently Ella has Covid AND RSV, and now pneumonia. We see no discharge dates in sight for her, as she is in the ICU at Londons Childrens Hospital, two hours away from home. We started at Met hospital but needed to be transferred due to her declining condition. 

Sophia was also just hospitalized in London, then transferred to windsor to be with her sister at the beginning of Ellas admission. Thankfully Sophia was able to be discharged today. But Ella is still fighting hard. 

We have had to ask for help in the past, before the girls were born we started a gofundme to assist with costs of living as we knew the girls had Congenital heart defects and would require alot of help including Open heart surgery. They ended up being born premature at 30 weeks and required a very lengthy hospital stay in Toronto. We went back for both girls to have Open heart surgery last year in Nov/Dec and were hospitalized for an additional 6 weeks.

I now find myself struggling as I have been off work for the last few weeks and we are unsure when I will be able to return. My husband has also been trying to work as much as he can but it has been very difficult for him as well with the girls being so sick. Weve also been sick ourselves 3x in the last 6 weeks. I have covid myself and hubby is still fighting his respiratory infection. We have made the decision to pull the girls out of daycare until it is safer for them. 

We are asking for any little bit of help possible to ease the stress of our bills at this time. I feel terrible even having to ask but we truely dont know what to do. Weve also learned Sophia will require a second open heart surgery within the next few months which will require more time off work. I do not qualify for any EI or caregiver benefits as ive just returned from Mat leave and do not have any hours.
