Support Ella Turpin, Miss Teen USA Contestant, on Her Journey to Help People Get Active and Preserve History and the Environment!

Hi everyone! My name is Ella Turpin, and I am honored to represent Leominster, MA, as I compete in Miss Teen USA! As my career as a competitive gymnast comes to a close, I am looking to trade medals for a crown. In my campaign, I will work to raise awareness for environmental protection and the preservation of historic places.

Why This Means So Much to Me

I have been fortunate to travel to various places, thanks to gymnastics and a family that enjoys the road. As the daughter of educators, one of the most meaningful parts of my travels has been exploring historical sites. Whether it’s the grave of Edgar Allan Poe, the vibrant neighborhood of Little Havana, or Concord, Massachusetts’s own Robbins House, I love to visit the places where so many great people made their mark. I also love nature and the creatures who call it home.

Protecting our environment and preserving history are twin passions that naturally complement each other. Many of these treasured places are at risk due to climate change, gentrification, and modernization. As I work toward becoming Miss Teen USA, I will explore ways to support existing preservation efforts and look to establish new ones if necessary.

I also want to help people find joy in exercise and fitness. Physical activity can be INCLUSIVE and can help build community. Through my work with the “Special Olympics” class at my gym, I have watched young people with disabilities experience the same satisfaction through hard work and a sense of belonging that gymnastics and, now, track have given me. Additionally, I have consistently achieved honors-level grades for my entire academic career while balancing athletics, including honors classes this year. As a coach of younger gymnasts, I feel a duty to pass this down and serve as a role model for my girls, just as the “big girls” did for me. Finding a form of physical activity you love is important, and I want to help people embrace that, given all it has done for me.
