Ella's Inclusive Playground

Hi, we are the Oakes Family and we are raising money for an inclusive playground for our son Cooper and his friends Bentlee and Dawson to play in at their school. Cooper, Bentlee and Dawson are all wheelchair bound and love to play with their friends outside. However, since the equipment in the school playground is not wheelchair accessible, Cooper, Bentlee and Dawson cannot have as much fun as they should be able to with their friends at recess. Ella, a grade 5 student in Cooper's class, saw how unfair this was and took it upon herself to do something about it. Ella created a power point presentation which detailed how beneficial an accessible playground would be to not only Cooper, Bentlee and Dawson but all the kids at school. Ella took her presentation to the school board to get approval to raise funds for the playground modifications. Thanks to Ella's heartfelt plea and passionate presentation, the approval was granted. Bentlee's family wasted no time getting the ball rolling and started a fundraising campaign with Bentlee's best friend Gabbi and her family. They have done an amazing job thus far but need a little more help to raise enough funds to cover the full cost of the playground. We have joined Bentlee's family to help out in any way we can. We look forward to the day when Cooper, Bentlee and Dawson are laughing and having fun with their friends on playground equipment designed for kids of all abilities. We appreciate your support and feel so blessed to be a part of Ella's dream which will impact not only our children, but all differently-abled kids and their friends for years to come.
