Ellen Faulk's Liver Transplant

Ellen Faulk is a dear friend of mine.  We met almost 20 years ago while teaching together.  This Go Fund Me account was established because thankfully, Ellen has recently been approved to be on the National Liver Transplant List.  Not only is Ellen in need of a liver, but she will also undergo ablation of the cancer on her kidney.  

Ellen has a non-curable autoimmune disease which has affected her liver.  The liver transplant  and kidney ablation will occur at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.  Following the transplant, Ellen must live in New Orleans for three months. An adult must also be with her those three months.  Her husband, Jerry and sister, Donna will alternate weeks taking care of Ellen. There is an apartment complex near the hospital that Ellen is hoping to secure.  The cost is $17 per day plus utilities and food.  Not only will living expenses incur in New Orleans but will continue at home in Mobile, Alabama.  

The estimate of hospital costs out of pocket after insurance is $10,000.  Also weekly travel, physician and medication copays, and food will be constant.   The medications Ellen will take daily are numerous and will be life long.
