Ellerie’s glimmers
Donation protected
Hi my name is Nicola and I am opening this with hope and positivity for a beautiful family who in September were given the worst news imaginable. Freya and Christian are the parents of a beautiful 8 year old little girl Ellerie and also mummy and daddy to 9 year old Albie and Ellerie is a sister to 15 year old Kody. This is not something that Ellerie’s family ever thought they would need to do.
Ellerie was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer called Diffused Midline Glimoa (DMG) at the end of September after having a biopsy. 30 children in the UK have this diagnosis every year. Her parents had taken her to the GP a week before concerned about a change in her walk and balance while on holiday. Never could they imagine this would have been the reason why.
We have been told there is no cure, but we have HOPE. Ellerie is reaching the end of a 6 week cycle of radiotherapy and has taken this is her usual stride. This treatment will stabilise her symptoms but is not a cure.
Ellerie is strong and determined and we will do everything we possibly can to find something to help her. Her family are determined to explore every possible option available. This is why I am asking for your help. As a family they are exploring all options including trials offered abroad. One of the trials is based Zurich and would mean a prolonged period abroad, uprooting the family to Switzerland. The cost of the trial alone never mind the travel and accommodation is £38,000 for the first 6 months, which the family will have to fund. Having a child with a life limiting condition comes with a huge expense whilst they navigate making memories and enjoying the time they have together as a family. Money raised will be used to support the family to live as much of a normal
life as possible, to fund the treatment and to make those precious memories.
Ellerie loves life and lives it the absolute fullest, not letting this stop her! At 8 years old she should have her whole life ahead of her a future filled with dancing, cricket and musical theatre and precious moments with her many loved ones. Ellerie continues to go to school, cubs, parties, dancing in the kitchen, singing and playing with her friends so please show your support to provide an inspirational little girl with future she and her family her family deserves
Glimmers are the opposite of a trigger. Glimmers are those moments in your day that make you feel joy, happiness, peace or gratitude. Once you train your brain to be on the lookout for glimmers, these tiny moments will appear more and more.
