Elle's Transition
Donation protected
Hi everyone, happy Pride!
My name is Elle, I'm a 29 year old trans woman from London studying art. This is listed as a fundraiser for my medical transition but it's really to help me begin living again. I've suffered with Gender Dysphoria since a child and it's worsened so much recently that I'm barely able to leave my bedroom. I've experienced suicidal thoughts at my worst and know that this transition will not only change but save my life.
I began socially transitioning 2 years ago and will begin HRT (hormone replacement therapy) soon to treat my condition. If I'm awarded gender reassignment surgery on the NHS I'll instead use this to help cover the costs of facial feminization surgery, body contouring surgery, breast augmentation or voice feminization surgery. I've been saving up as best I can but won't be able to afford them any time soon and have completely given up hope. I plan to cover as much of the cost as I can and wouldn't be asking for help if I could do this on my own but feel as if I have no other choice.
These surgeries would not only help me to look the way I feel inside and alleviate my dysphoria but also "pass" (resemble the sex I identify with) and be safer in society. Dysphoria is crippling at it's worst, compounding other conditions such as depression and anxiety, and these costs are the only thing standing between procedures that are essential to me living a mentally healthy and happy life. This would allow me to truly be myself for the first time in my life, to love and identify with what I see in the mirror, to socialize with others without being afraid of getting misgendered (which triggers dysphoria) and hopefully to live without it negatively affecting my life and health anymore.
Many people struggle with this every day, including many other things, but if you're able to donate even a small amount to help my situation it would mean the absolute world and hopefully I can give back one day. By no means do I expect to reach my goal, but any help towards it would literally be life changing. I can't thank you enough for listening and whether you're able to contribute or not simply spreading the word and sharing this means everything to me!
Love, Elle x
