Ellie Mae's Medical Bills
Donation protected
Ellie was born with a disease called Hirschsprungs. It is a disease that effects her colon. In Ellie's case, she was total colonic, which means her entire colon was basically dead. She was diagnosed at 2 weeks old, and had to spend time in Kansas City at Children's Mercy after the diagnosis. She had two major surgeries while in Kansas City that landed her with an ileostomy bag (although not permanent). Life since then hasn't been that of a typical child. A lot more 4 hour trips to Kansas City for doctor visits and a lot more hospital stays between then and now. On June 13, 2016, she had what's called the reconnecting surgery, which got rid of her bag and hooked her back up internally. That makes a total of 5 surgeries in her short not quite 2 years of life. Right now, Ellie has been in the hospital for a week after this last and hopefully final surgery. There have been a few hiccups here and there, but overall she is continuing to progress and heal. Hopefully soon she will be back to her sassy little self! All the money we raise will go to Ellie's family to help pay for her medical bills and the expenses that come along with it. Any amount you can donate will help them tremendously, as Katelyn hasn't been able to work much the past few weeks and Austin has had to take off work for this big surgery.
