Ellie's Chair

We are so grateful to have Ellie in our family. Despite the many struggles she faces daily, she never fails to grace us with her infinite love, gorgeous smile, and the best hugs one could ask for.

Having a special needs child comes with its own unique set of challenges, above and beyond what the child faces regularly. One of the most difficult for our family has been navigating the extremely slow and frustrating world of health insurance coverage.

Ellie’s wheelchair/stroller broke recently, for the second time this year. We have battled with the health insurance company and jumped through all of the hoops to finally have the evaluation done to get the repair. Waiting for an order, waiting for the approval, waiting to order and deliver takes months, and that is with us being extremely diligent about tracking the status and following up regularly. It doesn’t help that the insurance will only approve a new one every 5 years either. As a result Ellie is forced to ride the bus, and be wheeled around in an extremely uncomfortable, broken chair.

So we are setting up our first-ever fundraiser for Ellie, and looking to our community to provide any support they can, to help us to get Ellie a new wheelchair as quickly as possible. It is heartbreaking to send her off to school daily, knowing how uncomfortable she is, while we deal with the insurance approval process.

Any additional funds we receive past our goal for her stroller will continue to go towards Ellie's additional needs. Such as a Special Needs Car Seat and a Feeding Chair. We are also happy to share that after Ellie's old chair is fixed, there is another child in need we will be able to donate this one to, who is also waiting for a stroller. We can pass it on, with love.
