Ellie’s Medical Alert Service Dog
Hi friends! Ellie here! As some of you might know I have struggled with health issues since I was around 10 years old but I was always able to keep everything under control, manage well, and live life with normalcy. In the summer of 2020, my health started to decline with no warning, it just hit me! With several hospital visits and doctors appointments, we have come to the conclusion that I am battling a form of Dysautonomia called POTS or “Postural Orthostaic Tachycardia Syndrome” along with other chronic conditions. This causes a variety of symptoms but the biggest symptoms for me are Fainting, dizziness, and fatigue. I also have Celiac Disease so symptoms can flare for both conditions at unpredictable times. After around 8 months of trying to function normally at my university, play collegiate soccer, work and do everyday tasks, my health began to deteriorate and my symptoms caused me to hit an all time low. I went from playing soccer, running daily, working long days, to not being able to get out of bed, missing classes, not playing soccer and fainting more times than I can keep track. After being hospitalized for GI issues related to POTS, I have realized how serious this condition can be. As I look ahead to treatment and recovery, I know it’s a long road. While I’m on this journey my friends/family and I have decided that a Cardiac alert & Celiac alert service dog would be a great option! So, I say let’s go for it! As I continue college in the fall and as I continue to recover and manage symptoms caused by my chronic illnesses, I believe a service dog would be a huge aspect of me getting back to life like it used to be (or at least somewhat;) I however cannot do this alone and can use all the support I can get! Weather you feel led to donate or led to support through prayer and encouragement, I am so thankful you are walking this road with me! God has been faithful in every season of my life so I am trusting Him with this and leaving it in His hands. My future pup and I appreciate you and your support so much:))
