Ellie’s wheelchair fundraiser

I’m a 23 year old girl who is a wheelchair user. In November 2018 I suffered a trauma injury when my mental health declined suddenly and I decided to make an attempt on my life which resulted in me breaking my neck, back, pelvis, both legs and many other bones. The break in my back went through to my spinal cord resulting in a lifelong spinal cord injury. This means that I can only walk very short distances due to being too unstable on my feet and suffering with chronic pain. Consequently I need to use my wheel chair to get around the majority of the day.

The chair I have at present has become too small and is too heavy for me to put in and out of cars without help from other people so I am looking at purchasing a new lightweight adaptable chair which will increase my independence and enable me to have a better way of life.

I have found a wheelchair that is perfect for me and would change my life allowing me to gain independence again. The only problem is chairs are expensive. I have managed to put together half of the price of a wheelchair. But I still require a further £2500.

I know life is difficult for us all at the moment but anything little would help me improve my life and enable me to build a new future.
