Elliot Driben's care

Dear Friends of Elliot,

I hope this message and update on our friend Elliot Driben finds everyone safe and healthy during these uncertain times. As many of you know Elliot has been living at Evans Park in Newton for the past five years.  He has been well looked after at this quality rehab and senior living facility, and we commend the staff that keeps a close eye on his needs.

Over the past year Elliot has had a couple of medical setbacks that were very concerning.  He was forced to spend multiple days at Beth Israel Hospital.  Thankfully his determination, resiliency and toughness allowed him to return to Evans Park in good health.  His mind remains very sharp and he could probably tell you any college hockey or BU athletic score from the past four decades.

He spends much of his time reading news and sports articles on his computer.  He was most thankful that professional sports resumed so he had games to watch online.  He is keeping his fingers crossed that college sports might also begin in the near future, so he can keep an eye on the student athletes at Boston University that he has followed closely for the last forty years.

The Evans Park community has done well by Elliot, and we are supporting every effort to allow this to continue.  Unfortunately Elliot’s finances are hitting the wall again and we face the potential that a nursing home could be in his future.  With that in mind we are hoping to secure a bit more good will and financial support to keep him at Evans Park.

I would like to thank all of you who have assisted Elliot in the past.  He is most appreciative of everyone’s concern and support.  His Go Fund Me page remains open and we have set a goal of an additional $15,000 that would allow Elliot to remain there for another calendar year.

We know this is a difficult time for all and appreciate any amount you might be able to provide at this time.   It takes a village and in the Jewish tradition acts of Tzedakah (righteousness, fairness, justice, charity) toward Elliot comes full circle, as he modeled this virtue for many years.

 Sincerely,

Brian Durocher, Nancy Feldman & Richard Paster
