Elliott's Heart Surgery and Medical Expenses

Hi, my name is Salena, I am starting this GoFundme to try and help Elliott's parents Carlee and Noah with medical expenses and all the expenses that go along with being full-time hospital parents.

Their son Elliott was born on May 19, 2023, he has not been able to leave the hospital yet. Elliott was born with Trisomy 21 (down syndrome). Along with this came his heart defect TOF/DORV. These past few weeks Elliott has been struggling with breathing and eating. Right after birth, he was taken to the NICU, even before his parents could hold him. Due to his low muscle tone, he needed a temporary feeding tube put in place until he was strong enough to latch. Unfortunately with his heart and low oxygen, he was not strong enough to have the feeding tube removed. However, his wonderful team of Doctors decided it was time for his heart surgery. UMMC Doctors did an 8-hour surgery on August 1, 2023. When they opened Elliott's little chest they found that he had a lot more going on than they had anticipated. Without the surgery, he would not have progressed much more. Thankfully they were able to fix everything but one small hole that they couldn't reach and it would have caused more damage to attempt, they are confident it will close on its own. He does have a pacemaker to help him out a little but hoping that it won't be long term.

The parents have suddenly become a one-income household. Noah is steadily working so Carlee can be at the hospital day in and day out. All of Noah's free time is spent commuting back and forth. I am afraid the expenses are proving too much for this young couple.
