Elly Thompson, Matt Chiesa & Baby Bowen Matthew

Hi Friends! My name is Keegan and I've created this fundraiser to help the most selfless couple I know navigate through what will be a long & difficult journey with their newborn son, Bowen Matthew.

Mom-to-be, Elly Thompson, was life-flighted Pittsburgh in March due to complications from pre-eclampsia, where every attempt was made to stabilize both her and Bowen. Bowen, a micro-preemie, was delivered via c-section on March 26th. At a gestational age of 25 weeks, Bowen weighed 1.16lbs at birth and miraculously took his first breaths on his own.

In the weeks that have followed, Bowen has been transferred to Children's Hospital, has undergone 3 surgeries and has yet to be on a regular feeding regimen. Through it all, this little guy has remained alert and strong, considering many complications and daily concerns. Elly & Matt have been able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, taking on each hurdle with an amazing team of medical experts.

They have already expressed their want to give back and help others through this unimaginable situation, but the reality is that the medical bills have started coming in, Matt will soon have to return home to work 3 hours away, and Bowen will need constant care for months to come. Additionally, Elly needs to heal and monitor her own medical concerns. If you've ever had the pleasure of knowing her, I'm sure you'd agree that EVERYONE else comes first, and she has organized many charitable events for others over the years. Asking for help in a time of need such as this is just not in her wheelhouse.
