Over the past 2.5 weeks dad has encountered some vision loss and confusing with coming up with the correct wording when talking. May 30th he had a scheduled appointment which took over a week to get into to discuss these concerns. The process of getting the referrals sent over to Copley was beyond painful and was taking forever.
On June 1st, he was recommended by our local chiropractor Kirsten Alexander at Little River that he needed to go to the ER. When arriving at Copley ER they immediately brought him in for a CT scan, where the doctor discovered a mass in his brain. This led to be transferred to UVM for further testing. He was brought in for an additional CT scan of the body, where they discovered he has nodules on his lungs as well. Later came an MRI, where they found the tumor in his brain to be the size of a quarter and is sitting on his vision nerve and pushing against his speech nerve. After long eye tests, they discovered the tumor is very aggressive and is growing at a very fast rate. His vision is disappearing daily. The larger tumor has three smaller tumors that are branching off. When the doctors looked at this type of tumor they stated it usually comes from another part of the body, not always but stating it’s cancer.
On Monday June 5th the doctors came in to discuss the options, without having the biopsy results they are not sure what the best treatment plan will be. He will have to have radiation and chemo either way to reduce the size of the tumors. They will not be able to remove all the tumor because it is so close to these nerves they don’t want to risk causing him to be blind for the rest of his life. Radiation will shirk the remaining bits of the tumors left.
Wednesday June 7th he will be going in for surgery to remove the tumors and doing a biopsy to see what the next step is.
I will be keeping this updated whenever I have new results for everyone to follow. It’s very hard to keep everyone updated all at the same time.
As many of you know my dad would do anything for anyone, we appreciate all the prayers and positive thoughts. He has a very long road ahead of him.
Please do not feel pressured to donate, I am here doing this for my mom to help cover her expenses with traveling, hotel and extra expenses along this journey.
