Elmer's Revitalization
Donation protected
It’s hard to believe that we only got keys to Elmer’s on May 12, 2023! Since September 2022, our steering committee has worked to raise funds, purchase, and restore the historic Elmer's building as a nonprofit community center.
So much good work has been done in the last seven months. And, we are many steps closer to reopening Elmer’s as a regular gathering place for our community.
You’ve probably noticed, waved to, or stopped to chat with Derek and Robert, who have put an enormous amount of labor and love into rebuilding our porch the last few months. It now stands square and steady, ready to welcome feet in the spring! Our kitchen is in solid working order, and the last of the structural repairs are underway. Even more impressive, we managed to pay for all needed building materials with funds raised at community events, and all labor has been performed by volunteers!!
Unfortunately, despite applying some creative problem solving effort, we have not found a cheaper or volunteer-driven way to install the $20,000 fire alarm system we need to get back up to code and earn our occupancy permit. If you’re able, please consider making a year end donation to Elmer’s to help us complete this final step!
