Elsecar Main U9 Teams Mam Tor Sponsored Walk

Back in the summer of 2020, Coach Matt brought a group of 5 and 6 year olds together to form a grassroots football team, over the course of that season the group developed their knowledge of the game, ability to work together and a football family was formed, enjoying time together both on and off the pitch.

Heading into the second season the group split into relevant age groups and Elsecar Mains first U7s team was established. Going from strength to strength and attracting more children, 2 of whom being lionesses the foundations of our inclusive team developed. We are proud that each child receives the same encouragement, praise, rewards and game time. Our focus on this remains strong!

TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK

Then in the summer of 2023, with the support of our lionesses Matt developed a separate girls only team joining the Saturday league, we now have more females than males playing in our under 9 age group which is something the whole club is proud of!

We want all our TEAM members to enjoy the grassroots experience, taking memories into adulthood of the time they spent together on and off the pitch, the children have enjoyed experiences such as ten pin bowling, rock up, ninja warrior, laser quest to name a few. However, we are unable to fund such a holistic approach to grassroots football without the devotion and efforts of our volunteers, coaching team, the club and parents. Monthly subs only go so far, we regularly need to fund raise to keep things going off the pitch, therefore we have set the U9s an end of season challenge and a chance to explore the great outdoors together!

On Sunday 12th May our Under 9s football family will hike The Mam Tor circular route which is approximately 5.5 miles with some challenging hills. We would really appreciate it if you can get behind the group and give as much as you comfortable can to support this challenge, our youngest challengers are as young as 5 and our oldest…. Let's not go there We also have some adults in fancy dress taking part! Of course we will be photographing and recording the hike and fun across the weekend!
