Help Elyse with a Chance of Life
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tonya Lloyd. I am doing this to help my niece Jataisa Garner, 32. She normally keeps her life and business private but now she is asking for help and blessings.
All funds donated will help with all Elyse care needs, travel expenses from going back and forth from different states and home equipment that Elyse will need. She will need around the clock care, her mother will have to get her a nurse to come out to their home daily.
Her daughter Elyse was born on October 20th premature and diagnosed with Down Syndrome. She has been in nicu since birth. Elyse had to be transferred from her home nicu to another medical facility nicu in order to get the special care that she needs. Elyse was recently diagnosed with Leukemia and Congenital heart defects that may require surgery in the upcoming months. Her health has been up and down the past few weeks, the doctors have started her on chemo and watching her closely. She has received multiple transfusions and certainly receiving extra oxygen to help with breathing so her lungs do not have to work so hard.
Jataisa, is having to relocate and unsure how long she will be away from home, but she is keeping the faith and praying to God daily. As a first-time mother she has stayed strong, motivated and has done everything that she can to get her daughter the care she needs. As a first mom Jataisa never imagined her daughter being in the nicu this long and being told multiple of times that Elyse could die or doctors telling her that Elyse is a real sick baby in critical condition. No parent wants to ever hear those words.
*12/04/2023 -Update on sweet baby Elyse, she is currently 50% sedated and on a ventilator to help her relax due to having an enlarged liver & spleen, which is making it hard for her to breathe on her own. She is fighting everyday and showing us she got this. We just ask for prayers to continue for baby Elyse and her mom as they continue this journey to recovery.
As of 03/05/24, Elyse has been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension & lung disease. A pulmonologist and immunologist has
been added to her team of doctors due to echocardiogram concerns over the past month or so. More medications have been added to her daily cares to start helping with the pulmonary hypertension and secretions that are causing her lungs to collapse time after time. Elyse was headed in the right direction for weeks until a few days ago. She was scheduled to have surgery for a tracheostomy and g-tube on 03/01/24 but due to concerns of needing more support within 24-hours surgery was cancelled. Elyse has been put back on nitric and 100% on the ventilator, doctor had to completely sedate her so she is unable to move to keep her stats and heart rate where it needs to be. Over the past few days her body has become swollen and belly getting larger, unanswered questions are becoming hard every hour. Doctors are running different labs and doing x-rays and US hoping for answers. Due to Elyse not being stable enough, they are unable to perform any MRIs or CT scans right now to see what could be causing her to swell over a 24 hour period. Doctors have been watching her closely since 03/04/24.
As of 03/13/2024 Elyse recently had a bronchoscopy procedure done to look at her lungs and air passages to see if any mucus plugs were hiding behind her lungs and the flow of blood. Pulmonologist informed Jataisa that one of Elyse lungs is narrow and that is one reason air is unable to flow through her lungs like it needs too. Other doctors on the team informed Jataisa that Elyse needs a CT scan of her heart and a heart catheter due to veins in her heart pumping more blood into her lungs than needed. Elyse is scheduled to have a tracheostomy and g-tube surgery on 03/14/2024. Once Elyse is healed from this surgery the doctors will then look at doing the CT scan and heart catheter.
Jataisa is keeping her head held high through this tough time and continuing to pray daily and ask for healing. She hasn’t complained not once even on the days she doesn’t get any sleep or barely gets any sleep at all. In the mist of the critical battle her daughter is facing she is still out of work and unable to travel back home right now.
As a family we are hoping with the help of family, friends, and community that we can provide support for Elyse and her mother through this tough journey.
