Support Ember CS Study Abroad!
Donation protected
Peace Friends and Family, we really need your help: in September 2018 we launched “Ember Globalpreneurs Program”, our inaugural youth study abroad experience focused on developing next generation social entrepreneurs from communities where they are least expected and recruited. We spent six-weeks exploring Johannesburg, South Africa with nearly 70 middle school students and over a dozen teachers, social workers and support staff. This program was the first of its kind for Title I (low income) students, one where they focused on working together with local youth, organizers, social entrepreneurs and business leaders in a design thinking process to engage and iterate solutions to persistent problems confronting communities from BedStuy Brooklyn to Soweto South Africa ensnared in cycles of generational poverty, violence and trauma.
Our major donor for this program backed out at the last minute, and have a substantial short fall--the program costs nearly $8,000 per student, but we pledged to keep this trip absolutely FREE for our kids. That's where you come in.
Please share this link with your friends, and your friends friends. We are hoping to get at least 1000 people to get 10 friends to give at least $10 (though feel free to get more people to give more! :-). Folks who are interested in supporting specific program items can also contribute at the following levels:
$8,000 (Full Sponsorship for One Student)
$5,000 (Transportation and Lodging for One Student)
$2,500 (Food and Program Fees for One Student)
$1,000 (Cape Town Visit for One Student)
$500 (Susu Contribution--provides market spending money for 5 students)
We know our goal is an ambitious one, but we know great things can happen when good people unite!
Giving is simple: you can donate right through this link. All contributions are 100% tax deductible and 100% will go to support students directly.
Let me know if you have any questions, and always we are so very grateful for your love and steadfast support!!
