EMDR Trauma Therapy

This is super humbling for me. My name is Becca and I'm trying to raise funding for an expensive trauma therapy that I'm in desperate need of. I developed Functional Neurological Disorder last summer and it's adding to the derailment of my life.

Multiple traumas and extended high stress basically broke my brain. It caused the neuropathways to cross and jumble. When triggered, I go into Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures and paralysis. Basic CBT Therapy has proven ineffective in treating/minimilazing these episodes. They have lessened from happening everyday, but still occur fairly frequently.

I was forced to temporarily withdraw from grad school, where I was working towards obtaining my licensure to become a Clinical Mental Health Counselor. My focus is to work with troubled teens and young adults, with the desire to help them find their voice and set them up for success. I've already been working on a business plan to open my own practice upon licensure.

A more recent sexual assault has my triggers back in high gear again. I just completed my first Residency for the program, but while there experienced an episode in class. Because of this, I am unable to return to the program until I complete trauma therapy with seizures no longer being an obstacle.

My neurologist suggested EMDR Therapy, but it is expensive and not covered by my insurance. There are other intensive therapies becoming available, but are also not covered by my insurance. Each session is $250 out of pocket and this will likely be a lengthy process. As a single mother, struggling to make ends meet as is, I just simply cannot afford this treatment on my own. At this point anything helps.
