Emergency aid for Fire Fighter and Army Veteran

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Andrew Rimm, I am a Lieutenant with the City of Goose Creek Fire Department in South Carolina. On behalf of the Goose Creek Fire Department, we are trying to raise money for one of our brothers, Michael "Cig" Consigliere, who was tragically shot in an accidental shooting in Myrtle Beach. Cig is an amazing person with a heart of gold. The kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back, no questions asked. He has been with the fire department since 2022. Mike is an Army Vet serving time in Saudi Arabia in 2019. Cig is a loving father of 2. His daughter age 4 and his son age 9. His wife is a stay at home mom providing care for the children while he is at work. Cig is the sole provider for the family.

The shooting occurred on Saturday November 23 and left Cig unable to work for an unknown amount of time. A rifle was accidentally discharged inside of a residence where Cig was visiting family. Cig sustained very traumatic injuries from the shooting. He lost a lot of blood that night as one his arteries was severed. Cig used his training to know to stay calm and help was on its way. Direct pressure was applied to neck by his sister in-law, possibly saving his life. His right humorous was completely shattered as well as fragments from the bullet that lodged in his neck on the right side. That night, he had exploratory surgery to see the extent of his injuries to his neck. He was able to be stabilized and the bleeding was controlled. Cig was moved to the ICU under an extremely watchful eye. He was heavily sedated and his airway was being maintained. The doctors determined the fragments were resting against glands that were in his neck. Cig was finally off sedation on November 25 and was able to talk and see his family for the first time since the accident. On November 26 he had reconstructive surgery on his right humorous. He now has a metal plate and bolts holding his arm together. That evening he was finally moved out of the ICU and into a room. Cig was finally able to see his children for the first time. Cig has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He is still being monitored to see if there will be another surgery necessary and/or possible for the fragments in his neck. We are hoping to bring him home soon so he can start healing and recover with his loving family.

We are trying to raise funds for him to help with mortgage, bills and food for the family. We need to get him through this tough time until he can get back to doing the job he loves.
12/1/24. Update on Cig. Cig came home tonight! They removed the drain out of his neck. Did some blood work and he was able to come home. We were able to surprise him with an escort from the ladder truck he is assigned to. The fire chief and other chief officers along with the rescue to follow. Cig is still in some pain and has a long road of recovery ahead of him. His arm is in a sling and he doesn’t have any mobility, yet. His mom and dad were at his house and he was able to surprise them with him coming home. Thank you for all the continued love and support

Here we are after the surprise escort home
