Emergency Appeal for Herat Earthquake Victims

This fundraiser is being conducted on behalf of Rashid Khan, the esteemed champion of the Afghan Cricket team and his compassionate friends. To Support the victims of the recent earthquake in Herat Afghanistan.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, a series of devastating earthquakes struck western Afghanistan, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake. The magnitude 6.3 earthquake mercilessly shook remote regions just 19 miles (30 km) from the provincial capital of Herat. The powerful tremor was accompanied by eight unrelenting aftershocks, offering no respite to an already traumatized population.

The tragic events left more than 2,300 people dead, more than 10,000 seriously injured and destroyed over 1,300 homes. A desperate struggle continues in the devastated areas to save as many of those trapped under the rubble as possible, thereby reducing the death toll.

Immediate medical assistance and all medical supplies are essential. Supplies of food, water, and medicine are also needed to help those affected survive in the near term. Most important, however, will be long-term aid, which will provide crucial support for a return to normalcy, including recovery, rebuilding homes and finding shelter.

The drop we have set up is to support a concerted effort to provide essential resources and bring a ray of hope amidst the darkness to all victims of the earthquake.

Any amount contributed by you will be used exclusively to help local victims of the earthquake in Afghanistan. Our goal is to reduce the tragic impact and suffering, and to help rebuild damaged homes.

1. Who are we & our relationship to the parties we're raising funds for?

This is a joint effort from Afghans (friends) residing in Afghanistan and abroad led by the International Cricket Superstar Rashid Khan to help heal the wounds of our fellow countrymen at this difficult time and extend a helping hand to those in dire need.

3. How will the funds be spent & sent to the intended recipients?

We have Rashid Khan's Foundation on board on the ground who have a dedicated team to carryout surveys, collect data and plan the delivery of our aid and distributions.

The funds raised will be used to provide shelter, food packages and medical supplies to those affected by the earthquake. There are approximately 15-20 thousands people who have been affected by the devastating natural disaster, we might not be able to help everyone one individually, but our aim is to raise as much funds as possible and reach out to as many victims as we possibly can. We have previously used similar means and raised over $100,000 for the victims of Earthquake and floods in southeastern part of Afghanistan.
