Emergency Care for Onion

As most of those close to me know, I got a cat someone had found on a farm in Halifax last June/July & we named him Onion. He has been my soulcat, audibly and unfortunately probably noticeably my favorite to all of my other cats. He is also still under 1 years old. Today, Onion was hiding and meowing very loudly and seemed to be in a trancelike state, snapping out of it only to meow in pain. His tummy also seemed very hard. Upon bringing him to the Lond Pond Emergency vet, he will have to be anesthetized, catheterized to drain his bladder & he will have to be transported to VCA Weymouth to be evaluated for 48 hours. This will include X-rays to check to see whether or not he has kidney stones or permanent kidney damage. I am never one to reach out for help, particularly financial help, but this seems like it may be something that is a bit bigger than us, and we could really use the help. The bill was $1900 and climbing, and that was just to figure all of this out. We already have pain medication added onto that, and are dreading finding out the cost of the anesthesia, vet transport, bladder draining & continued testing. **UPDATE: It will be $4226 including the previously stated $1900, and is still climbing as that is for one night & Onion will likely need another night & would add about $1000 more to the total.** The vet did say that we did bring him in the nick of time, as his potassium levels have yet to elevate but he was showing some inflammation. The pain medication has helped tremendously, as he has stopped meowing repeatedly. **UPDATE: $4824 is the total** Any bit of help would be appreciated. I know times are tough for everyone, and don’t expect anything from anyone. If you cannot afford to help out financially, just snuggle your pet extra for me after reading this ❤️‍ thank you for taking the time to read, anyone that has come over my house at all since getting Onion knows how special he is. Not just to me but in general. He is a special cat.
