Emergency Custody for Blakely

My husband and I have been blessed beyond measure being able to be parents to two of the most amazing boys now both teenagers! While our family has always been whole, we were never certain our family was complete.

Raising our boys we can attest that no one can ever fully be prepared for where parenting can lead, both in challenges and in successes. But neither of us were surprised when our eldest approached us for help a few months ago.

He came to us after he noticed a co-worker and fellow teenager, dealing with some very adult problems. As a minor, she had been put out of her family’s home, and was struggling to pay for her own apartment while her parents are still controlling the finances she earns.

She spent most of her teenage years isolated, locked in her bedroom, verbally abused, and neglected. She had food and medical care withheld, and her education interrupted.

We couldn’t be prouder of our son for coming to us to help his co-worker and friend get the support she needs and the safety she deserves.

As a family we are blessed, and we have the home and resources to welcome this young woman into our family. While we can ensure her mental, physical, and emotional needs are met, the legal steps we need to take are just out of reach.

We need $3,500 to hire an attorney and help us to secure an emergency custody placement. Any amount you can contribute to help us make this goal is so greatly appreciated. Should we exceed our goal, additional funds will help with any additional legal costs and go to support her future educational endeavors.
