Emergency Custody and Safety of Tiny Human & Mom

Hey there, everyone!

I'm Jennifer and I've created this fundraiser for someone incredibly important. It's not often that I ask for help, but when it's for an innocent child and a mom who has a huge heart and a long history of helping others, I know we can't let them face this battle alone.

I am seeking support for my friend (and cousin by marriage...we will call her S for privacy) and her four year old daughter. They're on a tough journey right now. She is navigating an emergency court process to get full custody and ensure her daughter's safety. This isn't just a fight; it's a mission of protection and love.

The truth is that the person she is fighting against is my own family BUT I STAND WITH HER. We are seeking support for S and her daughter (my littlest cousin), who are facing a situation that no one should ever endure. She is desperately seeking emergency full custody to keep my little cousin safe. There are strong and valid concerns regarding not only her daughter but other minors as well. The facts will not be made public, but I assure you, the concerns are extremely valid.

We've set our goal at $15,000, and that's not just a number. It's what we need to cover emergency relocation, childcare costs, the added expenses of taking care of her daughter full time, and most importantly the lawyer’s retainer fees. The funds we aim to raise are not just a financial goal; they represent a lifeline to cover essential expenses. My friend is the kind of person who has always been there for others, often at her own expense. She has a heart of gold, and she's never been one to ask for help and now more than ever, SHE needs help. I know that a lot of you reading this have known and felt her support over the years.  It’s our time to give it back.  

She was in a verbally, mentally and physically abusive situation with her ex-husband for a decade and we have valid concerns for my littlest cousin's safety. S is determined to create a safe and secure future for her daughter. But this isn't something she can do on her own. With limited family nearby and insufficient resources to manage this situation independently, she faces challenges that are both emotionally and financially daunting. S is the embodiment of selflessness; she has helped countless people over the years, even when it has gone unnoticed and often came at great personal sacrifice. She does NOT qualify for state assistance and does NOT get child support from her ex. Friends, family and good people are needed now.  

To start, we need a $5,000 retainer for a lawyer to help her through this journey. It's a considerable sum, but it's one that will pave the way for justice and most importantly, for the safeguarding of an innocent child.

What makes this situation even more urgent is that she lives just a stone's throw away from her daughter's father (4 minutes) and for safety reasons, they need to relocate.

So, here's the deal: we are her community and it's time for us to rally together. We're not just helping her; we're showing her that she's not alone in this fight and we are saving an innocent child from irreversible harm. S is not just a loving and doting mother but also a courageous survivor herself who deserves our unwavering support in this battle.
