Emergency Diagnosis of Epilepsy
Donation protected
Hey everyone! My name is Shana, and I'm reaching out to you today with a heartfelt plea for support. Back in June, I blacked out while driving and my 13 year old daughter, Taelyn, and 12 year old daughter, Jordan, pulled the car over and called 911. Saving all of our lives and actually received a life saving award from the state of Ohio. Last Friday, I started having consistent seizures and was finally told what was happening and that what happened while driving, was indeed an epileptic seizure. Recently, I was diagnosed with tonic clonic generalized epilepsy, also known as grand mal epilepsy, focal seizures as well as mitral valve regurgitation and prolapse. These conditions have turned my life upside down and presented unexpected challenges for me and my family. I am a 35 year old single mother of 3 children - 13, 12 and 3 years old. My life’s purpose is each of those children. I’ve worked extremely hard my entire life to give these children a stable lifestyle and want to always be able to continue to. This has completely slowed me down to a point where it’s almost emotionally draining as the normal Shana has turned into fatigued Shana.
Dealing with the physical and emotional toll of epilepsy has been overwhelming. The unpredictable nature of the seizures, short term memory loss and the physical pain it creates, has made it difficult for me to maintain employment at least for the next six months as my Neurologist no longer wants me working or driving, adding financial strain to an already stressful situation. As a single parent, my biggest concern is ensuring that my children's lives are not negatively impacted by my health struggles.
To manage these conditions, I have started taking anti-seizure, blood thinner and anxiety medications prescribed by my doctors. While these treatments are crucial, they come with their own set of expenses. Medical bills, medications, and ongoing healthcare costs have quickly piled up, making it even more difficult for me to make ends meet. Mid February, I will be staying inpatient for 5-7 days to get a more detailed determination of the long term effects.
That's why I'm humbly asking for your support. By contributing to this GoFundMe campaign, you can help alleviate the financial burden that has come with my diagnosis. Your generous donations will go towards covering medical expenses, purchasing necessary medications, and ensuring that my children's lives can continue with as much normalcy as possible.
I understand that times are tough for everyone, and any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Even if you're unable to donate, praying, sharing this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks would mean the world to me. Your support and kind words of encouragement are just as valuable and will provide the strength I need to face these challenges head-on.
I am not one to share my business, so I appreciate just even getting this far. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and considering supporting me during this difficult time. Your generosity will forever be cherished.
With love and gratitude,
