Emergency Donations to help Connor Musial!
Donation protected
On June 5th, 2022, a fire caused by improperly extinguished smoking materials began in the 410/412 building of Mill Creek Apartment Homes in Wilmington, North Carolina. While it was initially ruled accidental, the flames irreparably damaged the structure and violently uprooted the people living within. Nobody perished, but the fire instantaneously threw the tenants’ lives into chaos characterized by extreme material loss, homelessness, and little to no certainty for an immediate resolution. Our dear friend Connor Musial faces this situation through no fault of his own, and we are asking you for donations to help ease his unimaginable burden. We are a group comprised of his close friends (Hollis Harris, Raina Cappetta, Eli Burr) and his girlfriend (Claire Hollifield), and it is our mission to help him get back on his feet as soon as possible. We are doing this because Connor has always been the kind of steadfast friend that helps others first and asks questions later. He only considers the costs and consequences of this decision once he knows that he has done everything to help those in need.
Most importantly, he never asks for anything in return. Connor is why our cars run well, he’s always there to help us move, and he always puts our needs before his responsibilities. Moreover, his generosity has never been limited to those around him. In the aftermath of 2018’s Hurricane Florence, Mill Creek was in shambles, and half of the property was inaccessible to recovery services. When the all-clear was sounded, Connor laced his boots, grabbed a chainsaw, and got to work without an expectation of pay or personal gain. That day, he worked 12 straight hours in the heat to clear debris, conduct wellness checks, and confirm the structural stability of damaged apartments, all because he knew it was the right thing to do. Over the next week, he continued to show up each morning and worked long hours to ensure that the complex’s other residents were safe and secure, all without any regard for himself. This person could not deserve what happened to him less. The fire took most of his clothes, electronics, automotive tools, and furniture. His sweet dog Bailey was rescued from the blaze, but it claimed nearly everything else in his apartment. So please, consider helping us fix this terrible situation by offering what you can to this fundraiser. Every cent will go directly toward assisting Connor in rebuilding the home taken from him.
We don’t deserve Connor, and he didn’t deserve what happened to him on June 5th. But, with your help, we can give back to a man that has always given everything he has to other people.
Thank you!
- Hollis, Raina, Eli, and Claire
