Emergency Evacuation - Journalist Adli & Family

My name is Azra Akhtar. I am helping my friend Journalist Adli Taha help evacuate his family out of a terrible situation in Gaza. the funds will be used to pay for Adli his wife mum and son to evacuate across the Rafah border to safety in Egypt.

Here is his story.

My name is Adli Mohammed Mostafa Abu Taha. I’ve been a freelance journalist since 2013. Currently, I am a correspondent for Al Kuffeyeh Channel in Gaza since 2017.

With the beginning of the war on Gaza, I’ve worked for a number of channels (Al-Jazeera, Al-Sharq, CBC) as a preparer of reports and stories. I need to evacuate my family which includes me (33), my wife (26), my baby boy Zein (4 months) and my mother who suffers from high blood pressure (60).

I’ve been through 6 wars in Gaza from years 2008 to the 2023 genocidal massacre which is still ongoing; I’ve also been through the Aqsa Intifada from years 2000 to 2005.

Since the beginning of this genocide on Gaza, the journalists have been facing a major threat and many of my colleagues have unfortunately been martyred for no reason other than wanting to tell their story to the world. The highest price you can pay for free speech, and they and their family paid it.

Personally, I sustained a hand injury while I was covering one of the attacks on a residential building. My house has been partially destroyed as well due to a nearby attack it is currently inhabitable despite a few walls still standing. I lost many of my relatives and friends and this is why I have decided to evacuate. I decided to evacuate to protect my family and child, the child I was blessed with on the 4th day of the genocide on 11-10-2023. He’s 4 months old now and I fear for my family that is surrounded by the sounds of death and destruction. These funds will be used to evacuate my family across the border to Egypt.

My mental health is in tatters and to be honest I do not think I will ever recover after the atrocities I have seen laid before my eyes. My families mental health is obliterated and it’s getting worse by the day, not to mention my mother who is seriously sick and needs treatment and special care for a multitude of illnesses. I need to protect them from the threat of death especially after the announcement of the possible ground invasion on Rafah, which is where I reside. We have limited time a matter of days possibly a week who knows. So I need your help so I can start hoping again as currently I have little faith in the humanity help me restore it by saving my young family. We have committed no crime no sin apart from being Palestinian. So please help in giving my family a hope of a future without disease, starvation, massacres and bombs.
