Pal Crisis Relief Gaza: A Humanitarian Aid Project

Donation protected
PalCrisisRelief is a group of volunteers who have joined together to address the humanitarian catastrophe that is taking place in Gaza. We are dedicated to helping Gazans affected by the war by directly providing vital humanitarian resources and services. We have been fundraising since October 2023 to provide essentials such as food, water, clothing and shelter to those that need it most. Our project has a particular focus on supporting families who have been displaced from their homes.

The people of Gaza are currently at high risk of starvation and dehydration. They lack power to stay warm in the cold weather. There is no running water with significantly impaired civil infrastructure. Infectious diseases are rampant. As there continues to be limited humanitarian aid into the area, your help is urgently needed to feed, provide clean water and other essential supplies to families. Your donation also helps to supply tents, mattresses, blankets and clothing to those who are homeless.

Project background
Originally organized by a group of medical students, this project is community-based and entirely run by volunteers. The work was initially funded with donations from close friends, community members' own funds and the good will of local shop owners and restaurants. However, given the extended duration of the war and continued limited humanitarian aid into the area, there is an ongoing need for more help with the risk of starvation in some parts of Gaza adding significant urgency.

What does your donation support?
1. Food
Hot meals, vegetable baskets and food packages containing dry goods and canned foods. We also supply baby formula for infants.
2. Water
Clean water is sourced from desalination stations and bottled water also purchased for distribution.
3. Emergency supplies
Essentials supplied include tents, mattresses, blankets, clothing and hygiene products, including sanitary pads for girls and women and diapers for babies.

How does your donation get there?
Donated funds are sent to our focal point on the ground, Nour Alshaer, who is a fourth year medical student residing in the south of the Gaza Strip. Nour withdraws money from ATMs still operating in the south of Gaza and organizes its use to directly purchase food and goods which provide aid to thousands of people on a daily basis.

How do we get food into Gaza? Isn't there no food with aid trucks not being able to enter?
There is limited food available for sale in Gaza that comes in through border crossings; however, the quantity is insufficient and they are sold at high prices. In the South, they cost anywhere from 2-10 times the normal price. In the North, commercial food products are not available at all. Because of the high prices and lack of income, most people cannot afford to purchase food themselves.
