Michael Dixon Urgently Needs Our Help!

On behalf of Michael Dixon and Mike Waddell, the DGLFFL is reaching out to our community in this urgent time of need.

One of our beloved members, Michael Dixon, was suddenly diagnosed with a life-threatening illness in late March and was admitted to the emergency room. This life-threatening condition quickly worsened and has required a long stay in the ICU. Since then, his condition has gradually improved, but he is far from out of the woods. The long-term effects of this will be life-altering and we need your help!

Medical bills, missed work, and insurance deductibles are adding up. Michael’s loving partner, Mike Waddell, has been by his side constantly and has endured constant anguish as well as the toll taken on his mental and physical health.

We are humbly asking you, our incredible community, to reflect on this tragic situation and help out however you can. Even a small donation will help Michael and Mike in this, their darkest hour.

Thank you for all the thoughts and messages of support for Michael Dixon and myself. I know he loves our football community and all the friends he's met playing. He is a wonderful, thoughtful, caring person, and the love of my life. He makes a positive difference wherever he goes and lights up any room when he smiles. A lot of people have been reaching out to express their love and support for him, and I'd like to think that energy and support have reached him and helped, so thank you. He is doing better today, but still has a long way to go. He has had a life-altering medical situation that will require a lot of love, support, and recovery.

Hello everyone,

For those who don't know, while respecting his privacy, I'll share that Michael has had a life-changing illness, for both him and his loved ones. He is currently in the hospital recovering from a serious condition which will require multiple months of recovery in the hospital. He has recently shown improvement but will have a long journey ahead.

Crowdfunding would be to help meet all deductibles, max out-of-pockets, and other costs associated with his extended stay in the ICU, hospital recovery, and PT to follow. As well as supporting meals for his out-of-town family and his partner Mike Waddell, who are staying at the hospital near full time during recovery.

Additionally, if you would like to send a stuffed animal, flowers, or cards, please reach out to Joe Fowler in the league who will make sure they get to Michael. Visitation is minimal right now, as this is still a difficult time.
