Emergency Fundraiser for the Uganda SPCA Haven

Tax deductible
Now that we have raised almost all the money needed for the full purchase of the USPCA's new plot (USPCA still owes some money on it, but they have officially purchased it), we're moving on to the next phase: raising money for the move. That involves putting up a perimeter fence, the initial infrastructure we'll need to safely place the cats and dogs at the site and have staff at the site, and the actual moving of the portable kennels and other USPCA property, and THE CATS & DOGS! I'll post an update soon with more information about this next phase. Meanwhile, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE OUR PHASE A SUCCESS, THE ACTUAL PURCHASE!  (As we move to the next phase, I'll keep the original fundraiser info below, as part of the GoFundMe project and progress):

We have a very short window of opportunity to raise the remainder of the money we need to purchase a 2-acre plot between Kampala and Entebbe for the Uganda SPCA Haven. The owner is selling this plot for cash and since it is already priced below market value, there's no room for negotiation.

The USPCA has been searching for land for more than 5 years. Prices are only going up.  The number of cats and dogs at the USPCA Haven is increasing daily. The current Haven is now surrounded by residences (the pressure to remove the shelter away from the residential area will only increase).

With about 300 dogs and cats currently at The Haven, the shelter is overcrowded. Feeding time is chaos. It's so difficult to give any dogs special attention (and so many need extra love) because getting dogs in and out of their kennels is risky for everyone.  It's difficult for volunteers to comfortably visit with the shelter animals. Potential adopters can't find quiet spaces to meet and learn about the animals.

We envision a larger, safe, serene, comfortable Haven for the cats and dogs of Uganda, who so rely on us for love and security after-for most-living through harrowing conditions.  We envision a space where staff, volunteers, and potential adopters can comfortably work and visit. Where dogs can get out of their kennels for walks and playtime.  Where cats can have a stress-free space away from the noise of the dogs. We want the USPCA Haven to be a place of learning for vet students and people all over Africa. We want the USPCA Haven to be a model of care for the most vulnerable.

The 2-acre plot we are hoping to purchase is in a very accessible location, with water and electricity hook-up nearby. It is easily reached without a 4WD. There's open space and lots of tracks nearby for walking dogs. There are  no adjacent residents. It is PERFECT! A title search shows that ownership and title are free of all encumbrances.

The time is now! PLEASE help us make sure this opportunity doesn't slip by!!!!  Any donation will help us reach our goal. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
