Emergency Funds for Cornell’s International Community
Donation protected
As of April 14, seventeen Cornell students have had their visas revoked or their statuses terminated by the State Department. They are part of a group of thousands of students and scholars across the US who have had their lives upended without warning. Many have urgent needs concerning housing, legal aid, and their day-to-day survival. Cornell Out Loud, a coalition of faculty and staff, is raising money to support our international community.
“If I am forced to stop my PhD program or face deportation, I have nowhere to return to. I would lose the only source of income my family depends on and, more importantly, my chance to complete a PhD that I have fought for despite war, displacement, and overwhelming personal hardship.”
This Cornell student and many others have begun sharing the difficult, precarious circumstances they will face should their residential status be undermined. Your donations will assist with legal fees, temporary housing costs, and other emergency needs.
Cornell Out Loud will post a running account of how these funds are spent (without identifying information to protect students) below. Resources will not be removed from the GoFundMe without being accounted for. If you are an international Cornell student in need of support, connect with us: cu dot outloud dot fund at gmail dot com.
This fund is stewarded by a group of Cornell faculty and staff; it is neither endorsed nor formally affiliated with Cornell University.
