Funeral Arrangements for Nicole Paulette

Update: On November 30th, at 9:37 my sister passed peacefully at Michigan State University hospital. Her body would not withstand any more treatments. All funds will go to the cost of my sister’s funeral arrangements. Thank you all so much for your support and prayers for my family at this time.

On October 5th, 2023 my sister Nicole, went to the hospital for severe abdominal pain. She was sent home. On October 8th, she returned to the hospital with severe abdominal and chest pain. On October 12th, she went septic due to extreme acute pneumonia. She has been in the hospital since with several life threatening complications such as no liver or kidney function and she is getting dialysis on a regular basis, going septic due to the pneumonia, several internal bleeds due to thinning of her blood vessels which has resulted in about 16 blood transfusions and 2 acute transfusions with blood products, a large hematoma that is sitting on her stomach preventing her from eating when not intubated and many other smaller complications. She is currently intubated and unconscious at this time in hopes to help stabilize her, but we continue to run into complications. My sister’s condition is so severe they have made her fill out a form while she was awake stating who her medical power of attorneys are and what her dying wishes will be should she not make it out of this. At this time she weighs close to about 75lbs. When/if she becomes stable she will need extensive rehabilitation to learn how to walk and perform daily tasks such as going to the bathroom, taking a shower and feeding herself.

My sister needs a liver transplant but is not currently an eligible candidate due to her condition and will not be one until her kidneys can function at at least 50%. She is not an eligible candidate for a kidney transplant due to non liver function.

My sister is currently in Michigan while myself and parents are located in Washington state. I am asking for help to raise money so my parents can go be with my sister, Nicole, during this time without the stress of having to worry about paying their bills as well as money to cover the flights they will need to get there and stay with her until she is well enough to be taken home. If she does not make it home, all funds raised will go to the cost of her service and burial.
