MOLD Emergency: Help Family relocate & heal
Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
We are the Ceballos family, and we are in the midst of a dire emergency that calls us to humbly reach out for help to our beautiful community.
In February 2019, we moved into our New York City apartment, unaware that we were stepping into a battle with toxic black mold that would escalate into a profound health and housing crisis for our entire family.
Although our landlords occasionally addressed visible mold spots by painting over them the root of the problem remained unaddressed for over 4 years. We were unaware of the severity of mold.
When walls were recently opened improperly to remove the mold, we discovered a terrifying expanse of mold behind the drywall, which has since caused our health to deteriorate dramatically.
A mold inspector found toxic black mold in not only the bathroom but our kitchen, living room and the most alarming every PTAC system in every room of our home, which has been blowing toxic mold spores throughout our whole living space.
Our children have suffered greatly with respiratory challenges, nightly hives, swollen eyes, and bloody noses. Our daughter struggles to breathe at night.
This is a situation that has been catastrophic for our family.
We have been staying on and off at hotels just to be able to breathe at night.
Personally, I Jennifer, have experienced a rapid decline in my health. For nearly four years, I have grappled with a mysterious illness, consulting several integrative doctors and even extracting multiple teeth, believing it was all oral-related. It is now clear that the mold has been silently attacking our health and slowly killing us.
Symptoms include brain fog, anxiety, depression, debilitating fatigue, blurred vision, tingling sensations, joint pain, headaches, severe eczema, and severe inflammation, (just to name a few) I have developed numerous food allergies since moving here, despite never having any before. Some days, the weight of these symptoms is so crushing that I cannot get out of bed.
This has caused me to recently stop taking doula clients because I no longer have the capacity to work. I recently received very alarming blood work results that confirmed I am suffering from several mold related illnesses that is also effecting my brain.
We have sought legal help over the month, but this avenue is proving to be a complex, drawn-out process with no immediate relief in sight.
Our urgent priority is to escape this mold-infested environment and relocate to cleaner, drier air to begin our healing journey.
Financially, this journey has been devastating, and has drained us.
Between medical visits for the whole family, alternative treatments, and efforts to combat the mold's effects, we have exhausted all our resources and accumulated debt and as of recently Daniel has transitioned from his job.
We have rental insurance but it will not cover anything.
Emotionally, the stress has been physically overwhelming.
We never thought we would ever be in this situation, and we are reaching out for community support.
**************
We are seeking support for:
1. Help Aid in funding our move to a healthier living environment.
2. Help Provide assistance to our family during the transition as we seek employment in our new location.
3. Help Enable us to undergo alternative treatments for mold detoxification, benefiting each member of our family.
4. Help Cover substantial medical expenses to maintain our health insurance for a span of 6 months.
5. Help Replace essential items lost due to exposure to mold. This includes not only material possessions but also our children's cherished memories and sentimental belongings. The pervasive impact of toxic black mold has left us with no choice but to start anew.
6. Contribute to counseling and mental health support. The toll of this situation on our mental and emotional well-being has been significant.
Even if you cannot contribute financially, your prayers, positive energy, and well-wishes mean the world to us.
In the face of adversity, we remain hopeful.
Once we're back on our feet and fully healed, our commitment is to give back to the community.
Our prayer is to help those suffering from mold illnesses.
With immense gratitude, The Ceballos Family
