Medical assistance for Marvel DC artist Thomas Tenney

Hello, I am Christina, the significant other to Marvel and DC veteran artist Thomas A. Tenney. Thomas is and has been an artist and creator in comics for close to 4 decades. He is known for his work with Marvel, DC, Image, Comico and more on such titles as Robotech, The Terminator, Iron Man, Force Works, West Coast Avengers etc. Thomas is also known for being one of the most fan friendly talents in the business. He has always been very open to share advice, stories from the past, say what’s going on in not only his career, but also our life. We're always grateful when friends and fans take the time to read his social media posts and get involved in the conversation. It’s because of that support that we’ve even worked up the courage to post this.

It's never ever easy ask for help! But we have nowhere to turn and are facing an immediate dire situation that we need your kindness and help with.

As some of you may already know, Thomas was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or known as COPD. An incurable lung disease. COPD requires daily medication and oxygen to keep Thomas going. Being an artist in the comic book industry can be extremely difficult especially with age and and fighting a disease like COPD. But being an artist has been an integral part of who he is, and had allowed him to live with the dignity all these years.

The last months, however, have really put our constitution to the test. Most recently, after countless restlessness nights, waking up in pools of sweat and his heart loudly pounding in his ears, Thomas got another check up. Thomas was notified that his COPD has entered another life changing stage. This limits his abilities even more. One thing he can no longer do is conventions and can only do limited time appearances. Those are supplemental incomes for many comic creators that is no longer available to him. Other things like controling his breathing to even eat a meal, having oxygen every night and staying away from fragrances is necessary.

The costs for his medications has climbed so high and even affording an oxygen concentrator is beyond our means. Like many comic creators, he has no insurance and some of his needed medications are not covered by other means. We could really use your help with Thomas' medical expenses and the other essential bills it's affecting.

I’m sorry to bare these struggles publicly like this, but we’ve reached a point where Thomas and I are out of options.
