Emergency Help for Veteran in Need
Donation protected
This Holiday Season, Honour those who have Served our Country by Helping an In-Crisis Canadian Veteran and his Family.
VETS Canada, a national volunteer-driven charity, has responded to over 2000 requests for assistance from Veterans in-crisis, at risk of homelessness, or living homeless since 2010. As a Veterans Affairs Canada service provider, our hundreds of volunteers provide emergency aid and comfort to Veterans in need from coast to coast. We are driven by the belief that those who served to protect our homes should never be without one.
Currently, we are working with a nearly 20-year Veteran and his wife who are in dire need of help. This Veteran's wife recently created a Go Fund Me page to request emergency financial support, but took it down to due to a lack of response. So now, we at VETS Canada are reaching out to our amazing network to secure the funds that this couple so desperately needs. Please click here to watch an interview with this Veteran featured on CTV News.
This couple lives in a 40 year old mobile home in NS that is in desperate need of repairs, with no insulation or funds for heat or warm clothes. For Thanksgiving, their meal consisted of Kraft Dinner, and for the past two months the couple have been living off canned foods - cutting meat completely out of their diet due to cost.
Along with financial crisis, this Veteran and his wife live with numerous and severe health concerns, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, diabetes, spinal stenosis, knee injuries, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, and heart attacks. Most of the Veteran's health issues are service-related.
Each month, this Veteran and his wife must choose between food on the table, staying warm, or vital medications.
Additionally, this couple has been unable to celebrate Christmas for a number of years, or provide presents for their six grandchildren (ages ranging from 1 month - 11 years old). Please click here to watch an interview with this Veteran featured on CTV News.
Although VETS Canada has provided emergency assistance, the needs of this family go beyond our scope. We are looking for donations from the community - 100% of funds raised will go towards helping this Veteran and his family. Help us today!
