UPDATE TWO: National news has reported on our plight. Looks like we might have power restored on...Friday? Maybe? https://apnews.com/article/derecho-storm-springfield-illinois-power-outage-a489aecfd65393099fbdc5e36fd84037

UPDATE ONE: We're in a hotel! Tentatively for two nights but thanks to your generosity, we can stay here until the power comes back on, which according to City Water Light and Power and the Mayor's office will be "whenever." If we have money left over from this fundraiser, we will spend it on Fran's outstanding medical bills, which are in the thousands. Fran's birthday is the 16th of this month, and you've already made her birthday month happier. Thank you.

Fran and Family have been without power since the Derecho hit Springfield, Illinois on Thursday, June 29. They've had to toss the entire contents of their refrigerator and now that it's getting muggy again, they are looking for funds to rent a motel room for a couple nights relief. Springfield's power company is working hard, but there are so many trees down and individual lines affecting so many people, it may be several more days before power is restored.
In Friday's Electric Operations assessment, CWLP personnel are estimating another 10,000 customers will be restored by Sunday morning. The remaining customers are expected to remain without power for multiple additional days where the damage is associated with smaller lateral lines and trouble in backyards and individual service lines. Due to the widespread outages with hundreds of power lines, many dozens of broken poles, transformers, and other compromised electric equipment, the restoration will take longer for these final groups. Work will be prioritized to restore power quickly and safely for all customers.
We don't have power as of late Monday morning, which we assume means we've got several days ahead without power.
Your donation will go to put us up at a motel and get us food while our power is out. We can't reach our homeowners' insurance company to find out if our policy covers the food we threw away -- when we know that we'll update this fundraiser.
Thanks so much for your support of us during this incredibly frustrating situation. Love!
