Emergency Medical Care For Lindsay!

Lindsay was admitted to Cornell late last night and she needs emergency medical care to survive. She developed severe pneumonia after suffering from a choke episode. Choke is a condition where the esophagus gets blocked usually by food material and the animal is unable to swallow. The animal can develop aspiration pneumonia when bacteria gets into the lungs. Lindsay suffered from choke last Saturday and was immediately seen by our vet. Over the next few days she was given fluids and strong antibiotics to counter any kind of infection in the lungs.

Unfortunately her body was unable to fight off the infection and her condition worsened. Her best chance at survival is with the team at Cornell. Overnight she was given intravenous antibiotics, fluids, a feeding tube, she had bloodwork, and her lungs sonogramed.

Tubes were placed in her lungs this am to drain the fluid out. That fluid will then be tested for bacteria and antibiotic resistance. We are so happy that the team at Cornell let Dawn, Lindsay’s sister stay with her. They have never been apart and Lindsay will not thrive without her sister by her side.

All of these procedures will be expensive and she will have a long road of recovery at Cornell! Please help us give her the care she needs to survive. We cannot do this lifesaving work without your help. The first few days of her care are estimated to be about $8,000.00. She will most likely be at Cornell a month!
