Emergency Medical Funds for Omhery

My mother, Omhery Madriz, is in critical condition and she needs help.

She took a trip to Colombia to get some dental work and visit her niece; she was enjoying her time there until she started to suffer from a severe headache. She went to the hospital where she was diagnosed with sinusitis (sinus infection). We all expected her to make a full recovery, but she just kept getting worse. That's when they found out she had bacterial meningitis.

As I write this, she is currently in surgery (ventriculostomy) to relieve the pressure in her brain from fluid buildup. Because this happened in Colombia the expenses are out-of-pocket and they are quickly piling up. We kindly ask for any support you can provide to pay for her medical expenses and, God willing, for her road to recovery.

She's a strong woman who has so much love to give and is always looking out for those around her. We've practically had to force her to take time for herself, to do what makes her happy. She's always wanted to travel and has only recently been able to enjoy it.

Hizo un viaje a Colombia para hacerse un trabajo dental y visitar a su sobrina; Ella estaba disfrutando de su tiempo allí hasta que comenzó a sufrir de un fuerte dolor de cabeza. Fue al hospital donde le diagnosticaron sinusitis (infección sinusal). Todos esperábamos que se recuperara por completo, pero seguía empeorando. Fue entonces cuando descubrieron que tenía meningitis bacteriana.

Mientras escribo esto, actualmente está en cirugía (ventriculostomía) para aliviar la presión en su cerebro por la acumulación de líquido. Debido a que esto sucedió en Colombia, los gastos son de su bolsillo y se están acumulando rápidamente. Le pedimos amablemente cualquier apoyo que pueda proporcionar para pagar sus gastos médicos y, si Dios quiere, para su camino hacia la recuperación.

Es una mujer fuerte que tiene mucho amor para dar y siempre está cuidando a los que la rodean. Prácticamente hemos tenido que obligarla a tomarse un tiempo para sí misma, a hacer lo que la hace feliz. Ella siempre ha querido viajar y solo recientemente ha podido disfrutarlo.
