EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUNDS for Pippin & Frodo!!
Tax deductible
On Sunday, May 29th, Pippin and Frodo (~3 weeks old) were found in a Good Samaritan’s back yard. When I got to the kittens on Monday, they were not fairing well. We searched the area and spoke to several neighbors, but mom and the other kittens were nowhere in sight. After about a half hour, I made the crucial decision to leave and get these kittens the care they needed - food and hydration.
After some very close around-the clock care the first day or two, Pippin and Frodo buddies were stable. They were finally BAR - bright, alert, and responsive. They were urinating and defecating normally with stimulation, and adapting as well as they could to eating out of a syringe with a nipple (huge change from a mama cat’s nipple)! Their intake was being closely monitored and they were ready to transition to a long term foster. They even perked up enough to start wrestling around with one another and grooming themselves and each other.
Fishtails Animal Rescue stepped up to the plate and found a wonderful long term foster couple for these little guys. I was so thankful, because I just could not personally handle the overnight neonate care anymore.
All was well with Pippin & Frodo for the first few days in their new foster home. But then suddenly they were not well at all. Pippin was very lethargic and not very responsive. An experience foster’s gut instincts kicked in, and it was off to the ER in the middle of the night. Not once, but multiple trips to the ER. Sudden drops in body temperature and sugar levels, despite close attention and regulation provided by their foster parents.
Last night, despite being in the ER overnight again with very high levels of dextrose supplementation, Pippin still could not regulate his blood sugar. This morning, the difficult decision was made by Dr. Cohn to have Pippin humanely euthanized. He was very much loved and will never be forgotten. ❤️
Frodo is still being closely monitored at the ER for the same reasons and the ER bills are absolutely through the roof. Any donations you could provide to help cover the cost of their medical care would be so greatly appreciated. ❤️
