Emergency medical support for Black Trans person

UPDATE: Thanks for the donations so far for our beloved friend. They have returned to their home and no longer testing positive for COVID, but they have accumulated high medical bills since COVID materialized several health complications which they are still dealing with. We have increased the emergency fundraising goal, and the breakdown is listed below. Thank you for taking the time to read this and offering what you can for support. 

Reimbursement for funds already spent on medical tests, as well as additional medical examinations, extended lodging (before they returned home), and medication: $6,000

Work loss and disruption - 4/8 - 5/16- $3,000 

Flight back home - $800

Dear community, we are calling on your support for a beloved Black trans person in the community who has tested positive for COVID for the first time and is navigating additional underlying medical issues. They have had to cancel several upcoming gigs and are stuck in an unfamiliar city until their health is better. They are also uninsured and are paying for tests and medical bills out of pocket. They are in urgent need of financial aid to cover medical expenses, medication, food, housing and transportation as they navigate multiple hospital visits and recover in a city which they do not live in.

 

This is a community member who has provided love and support to many of us and they don’t often ask for help in this way. They have entrusted their inner circle with supporting them to make this public ask and we are all grateful for any way you can support by making a donation or sharing this.

 

We are raising $7,000 in emergency funding to cover the following expenses:

Flight back home - $700-$800
Rapid and PCR COVID tests - $400 
Medication - TBD
