Emergency Mental Health Leg Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alana and I am trying to raise $5,500 so I can get the immediate intensive mental health care that I need.

Long story-short, I am not okay. I know something like mental health care may not seem worthy of a GoFundMe like a surgery or a funeral fundraiser would (especially when it's someone you usually see smiling), but I beg that even if you can't help, that this at least disproves that notion for you...

Here's a brief analogy to explain my situation... Imagine two years ago I realized that I have a leg injury, so I go to the doctor. I say "Hey my leg hurts, and it's been affecting my ability to walk and do daily tasks." Then instead of examining the injury to determine what treatment is actually needed, I am just handed different side effect heavy OTC pain meds. In the following months, I am taken on and off of 7 different medications, without anyone knowing what they are even treating. So now, after two years of negligent treatment, and being forced to walk on an unhealed leg, the injury has gotten worse. At this point, I feel like I can barely stand, let alone walk. It's affected my ability to work, go to school, take care of myself, leave my house... And so now, instead of just needing some ice and a cast (which may have fixed the problem two years ago), I need emergency surgery.

I have been living in Nashville, TN for school for most of the last year, and have been struggling to find any sort of affordable and qualified help. My medical coverage offers very limited mental health support, so I have to pay out-of-pocket for health services here (most psych places don't accept insurance anyways). I spent the entire last semester just trying to get a mental health evaluation, but those tests alone cost upwards of $1200.

I FINALLY found a perfect program (that I honestly think could change the entire trajectory of my life) and they...
  • are offering me an opening for immediate admission
  • offer financial aid and scholarships (that could end up covering 70% of the total cost)
  • have a perfect intensive program curated to address my specific needs and goals
BUT...
  • They require a $5,500 deposit paid by the first day of admittance
So the only thing keeping me from starting my journey of recovery is this one freaking deposit. Like imagine you had that leg injury and $5,500 was the only thing keeping you from getting surgery and being able to walk again... I've decided I have come too far and too long of trying to find myself the right help, to let a mere number keep me from finally living my life...

So please, as much as it pains me to ask (especially in such a public manner), any sort of contribution would bring me a step closer to my goal. Whether it's $5, or sharing/reposting this link, I will forever be grateful. All we need is 100 people to donate $55, and we'll do it! And i'll be able to walk again soon<3
