Help Our Family Avoid Homelessness - Lease Ends April 30th

Hello, my name is William, and I am raising funds to move my son and I to Cedar Rapids, IA to avoid homelessness and so that I may continue my education and provide more opportunity to my family and community.

I want to return to school to finish my A.A. and to pursue a BA in Philosophy. After that it is my intention to get my MA in Philosophy and then either JD (Juris Doctor) or a PhD. It's my hope to get into education on the post-secondary level.

I was planning on returning to school in the Fall Semester, however my living situation has changed and homelessness is eminent. We have been notified that the apartment complex will not be renewing my lease at the end of this month (April 2024). So It's now my hope to be able to start in May because of the necessity of housing either way. I don't want to sign a new lease that I will have to break in a few months.

We have found housing on-campus that we can both stay in. It costs $950/mo and includes all utilities. There is a $600 deposit on top of that. Plus we would have some other moving costs. (Truck rental, fuel, etc.)

Jacob and I have started the process of trying to sell off some of our more valuable things to fund the move, however I'm worried that it just may not work out in time or raise enough. Also, in June and July I will get disbursements of $2,100 and $1,500 respectively.

It feels uncomfortable putting myself out here like this, especially because I want to be the one helping people, but in looking at the timeline and options.. It feels like I really do need a little help. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I will be providing updates to our progress and sending everyone who helps a personal thank you.
