Emergency MRI scan and operation for spinal injury
Donation protected
Hi my name is Erin. My female bully Skyler went in to Medivet on Friday 3rd May to get spayed. She ended up developing complications from her surgery. She was rushed back to the vets the next morning because she was bleeding from her wound and her gums had gone really pale. She had to be carried in due to being so weak from the blood loss. The vet said she had anaemia, and her abdomen was full of blood from internal bleeding. She was bleeding from 20 different places in her abdomen when they opened her back up. They had to do a blood transfusion to get the blood from her stomach back into her veins. After she woke from the second surgery, they discovered she couldn't stand up and use her back leg's as she has a spinal injury now, she can feel pain and use her legs but she can't stand up on her own. They don't know if it has been an underlying problem that has been made worse through two surgeries and lying on her back whilst they operated. The vet said it could be slipped disk pressing on a nerve. She needs a MRI scan and most probably more surgery on her spine. The cheapest price we can get is between £6000 and £7000. That is for the scan and the operation. We already have at least a £1500 bill with the vets right now. I would never do anything like this but we are desperate to save our fur baby. She will be 2 year's old on the 25th May. Any help would be massively appreciated to save our Skyler.
