Emergency relief appeal for Sri Lanka
Donation protected
Hi,
As you may have seen on the news, the island nation of Sri Lanka is in economic and political collapse.
Mismanagement and corruption has seen the country go into total economic decline in the last few years. Now with high levels of debt, the government is unable to pay public workers and for essential needs to enter the country.
The people of Sri Lanka, especially the working class and impoverished are without access to food, water, medicine and other basic essentials.
Recent political turmoil which led to protests and curfews further cut off the common people from any opportunity to feed themselves and their families.
The country goes without electricity and water access for hours every day, the rural areas outside the capital without access for days on end.
Children and elderly are starving, families are without access to basic needs such as food, water and medicine for basic health needs such as diabetes. Schools and hospitals are routinely shut down.
We are trying to help by providing food and aid families who can’t pay for access to water or electricity. We are raising funds to feed impoverished individuals and families, who are now going days without nourishment. We are providing long lasting goods such as rice, grain and foods such as vegetables and fruits.
Currently we are helping in the Eastern provinces of Sri Lanka, one of the most impoverished in the country and left long neglected by the government. A province where people struggled to have their basic needs met long before this decline.
We need your help to feed as many people from the province as possible. With donations, we can also start expanding our service to other impoverished provinces around the country.
$30 AUD ($22.5 USD) is equal to nearly 7,000 Sri Lankan Rupees. This is enough to feed one family in Sri Lanka for a month. Even a $10 dollar donation would go a long way in providing much needed food to families.
