Emergency Relief for African Students in Ukraine

This is a “flash fundraiser” with the goal of raising money very quickly to provide immediate relief.

 

As of today (3/6/2020) there remain approximately 9,500 African students in Ukraine. This is in addition to approximately 10,000 who have already fled the country in the days immediately following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. These students are far from home, some as young as 16, in a war zone. I’m the town of Sumy, approximately 1,000 are trapped and currently unable to leave. There is no plan for safe evacuation for them at this time.

 

There are emergency needs within and outside of Ukraine that include

 

FOR EVACUEES:

 

*food, clothing, and hygiene products

*shelter

*a plane ticket home to country of origin

 

FOR THOSE WHO ARE CURRENTLY UNABLE TO LEAVE UKRAINE:

 

*food and hygiene products

*expenses associated with evacuation if/when it is safe

 

Money will be distributed directly to students. All requests are verified.
