Emergency Relief for Devin & Atenea, San Diego
Donation protected
We are hoping to gather emergency donations for my brother (Devin) and my sister-in-law (Atenea) after they lost their house in the San Diego flood. Devin and Atenea are the most generous people in the world, and just moved across the country less than a year ago. They spent weeks packing everything in their house in New Hampshire to move to San Diego—it is all gone: furniture, cookware, bedding, clothing, photographs, Atenea’s new business equipment, etc. Their renter’s insurance will not cover the flood damage, and they are feeling hopeless.
On January 22nd, 2024, San Diego experienced rapid flash flooding. Atenea was home with their pets, and water started to flood through the door. As she tried to get in touch with Devin, the water quickly climbed up to her waist. Just when her vehicle began floating away in the flood, she managed to climb out of the window—with the pets—and was stranded on the roof of their house for hours before Devin could get to them. Devin had to swim through 4-5ft of water just to reach their house.
The water level reached up to 4.5–5ft and included sewage water. So, the flood has completely destroyed Devin and Atenea’s home and taken all of their belongings. They are now homeless and have lost everything they had together.
Please help us get this sweet and generous couple emergency shelter, food, clothing, and other necessities. We are so grateful for your help!
