Emergency Relief for Gauri Shankar Dey's Family

Our dear friend Gouri Sankar Dey, BEC Civil 2003 (affably referred by us as Gola Kaka) is no longer with us. He was admitted to the hospital following a cardiac arrest, followed by a severe lung infection and multiple organ failure. He succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest a couple of days later. It was all over within three days. He is survived by his wife Moumita (who is a homemaker) and his 10-year-old son, Bhaswar. He was the only earning member in his family comprising of his mother, his wife and kid and the widows and children of two younger siblings (both of whom died within the last 4 years even before they reached 40).

His latest employment was with a Private Sector firm (dating back just 3 years) which limits his benefits, gratuity and other payoffs. He did not have a large enough life insurance policy to help support his wife and son let alone the larger family neither for the time being nor for the immediate future.

He was an optimist waging battles against adversity and tragedy throughout his life. But as it always happens in a tragedy, in the end the protagonist loses. A guy with a golden heart and a radiant smile, Gouri – our Gola Kaka lost his battle as well.

Whether you are an BEC Alumni, a friend who knew Gola Kaka, an acquaintance or you just heard about his tragic loss of life and his family’s misfortune though this appeal, I request you all to please come forward to help Gouri’s family in need at this terrible time and try to build a fund so that the family has some hope to lead a somewhat decent life. All the money raised will be directed towards this family’s (including his extended family) sustenance and his kid’s continuing and future education.
