Emergency relief for Tahoe Truckee CV-19
Donation protected
Our goal : We are raising funds for the immediate relief to local families needing assistance due to the CV-19. We are donating to individuals, Boys and Girls Club and Sierra Community House. Boys and Girls club is providing take away dinner for the first time and there is no funding for this. They are starting today we have already donated money for them to start this week. Thank you for any contributions.
In times like these, communities survive when we come together.
Tahoe is feeling the acute impact of the Shelter In Place directive. With the majority of Tahoe jobs in the leisure industry, the sudden halt of travel and tourism have left many local residents in dire circumstances. Our community may face economic devastation.
We have established this Tahoe Truckee COVID-19 Relief Fund to alleviate the immediate strain that many are facing. The impacts of this pandemic will be far-reaching for months to come. Supporting our friends and neighbors will be critical to our community’s recovery.
Currently, we have two Facebook pages where people can and are reaching out to us: Truckee Tahoe People and Emergency Relief-Tahoe Truckee COVID-19. We are donating to many local agencies as well as individuals - for example:
The Sierra Community House is offering grocery boxes and grocery store gift cards, with 2000 boxes and gift cards being distributed this week. That number is expected to double next week and continue to grow exponentially, without the resources required to meet an increased level.
The school district requested that the Boys & Girls Club in Kings Beach serve curbside dinners, something the Boys and Girls Club has never done. To serve 150 dinners for five days each week, the cost is $4500 per week, for which there is currently no funding since this program did not previously exist. The staff of 30 is calling all 500 club families to determine urgent needs, with funds for bills and rents desperately required.
With the start of the month around the corner, we anticipate an urgent need for rent relief within the next few days.
Donating to this fund directly allows flexibility and nimble allocation during this period when timing is of the essence. We greatly appreciate any donations, allowing us to immediately allocate funds with urgency.
Every gift made today, no matter the amount, will be put to good use. Nothing will go to waste. Working together, we can protect and support our community during this difficult time.
